Capable to fly over the ice while all around them people hold their breaths. They are the champions of the ice that the world has fallen in love with. Since 2006, the year of the Torino Winter Olympics, television audience figures for ice skating have increased. For example, during the Olympics, ice skating on prime time on Rai Due registered an audience of 9.000.000 television viewers and a 33% audience share wich is comparable to the audience for a football match played by the national team.
In the UK, the show Dancing on Ice regularly reaches television audience numbers of 9 million plus. The show of ice skating to music is becoming increasingly popular.
The cascade of events produced live between 2006 and 2011 confirmed this finding and all the television networks have tried to include in their schedules the best ice events.
Figure skating is spectacular on TV.
Just lay eyes on the screen for a few moments to be captured by its magic. The victory lies in the elegance of the steps on the ice, in the vaulting and spectacular acrobatics. But also the smiles, the costumes, the looks of this sensational athletes and their delicius performers.
Seen live it gives even more intense emotions. On the stands, not too far away from the ice rink, the mouvement of the air makes you feel the energy of each movement. It unveils a spell: the skaters don't slide on the ice, they fly.

CAROLINA KOSTNER

She is the 2012 World champion and has three other World medals (2008 silver, 2011 and 2005 bronze). Kostner is also a five-time European champion (2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013) and has three other European medals (2009 and 2011 silver, 2006 bronze), the 2011–12 Grand Prix Final champion, the 2010–11 Grand Prix Final silver medalist, the 2007–2008 Grand Prix Final and 2008–2009 Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, and a seven-time Italian champion. Carolina Kostner finished the last two seasons (2010-2011 and 2011-2012) as the first in the world rankings by the International Skating Union (ISU).
